Asian Community Caucus

Decisions are constantly in front of us daily, whether reactive or proactive. Unless prompted by school or work, many individuals never have a framework in order to make informed decisions. Join the NIRSA Asian Caucus as we explore identifying your top personal values and how that may align or conflict with your family and work values. Your values may change throughout your life based on goals, relationships, and transitions. Taking the outcomes of this activity may influence your ability to make informed and meaningful decisions as you strive to thrive in your work, relationships, and leisure pursuits. For students and professionals, knowing your personal values can assist in finding a career or job that aligns with your values, which can impact your feelings of purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.

As Asian-identifying individuals, knowing your values can also impact decisions regarding when to speak up or speak out at your workplace, as well as potential actions regarding voting for local, state, and national elections. Nationwide, we have witnessed diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are being dismantled, which could influence historically underserved populations. Some individuals who value social justice may have power and influence to advocate and persist to support systemic changes that impact marginalized communities. This workshop may also have participants reevaluate their community impact through knowing their values and what level of participation they plan to have.

Part of NIRSA's commitment to engaging in conversation and organizing action - Conversation will embrace vulnerability and authenticity. It is intended as a space for the Asian community to come together.
