Region VI Student Representative

Amy Cole
Amy Cole
Washington State University

Hi everyone! My name is Amy Cole and I am your current student representative for Region VI.  I spent the last three years working with Intramural Sports at the University of California, Davis, and I am currently the Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and Special Events at Washington State University. I am very excited to serve as your regional rep. Over the past year I have had the great fortune of meeting many of our region’s students and I can't wait to get everyone involved. We have lots to do!

There are great things happening in our region and many opportunities for student involvement. Please look at the list below for great volunteer roles.

  • State Representatives: Work with your state director to find out what's happening at campuses in your state and keep me informed of state events. Write a short paragraph for the newsletter letting the region know what’s happening in your state.
  • Campus Contact: Be the "go-to" student at your school for the state representative and keep him or her updated on everything your recreation department is doing.
  • Student Lead-On Planning Committee: This is our biggest project this year! The Student Lead-On is an opportunity for students to network with each other and professional staff. Get important resume building experience and sit in on presentations catered to students and students alone. Volunteers are needed to help plan and present at the Lead-On. More details about the Lead-On will be posted soon!
  • National Conference: This year’s National Conference in April is happening in Region VI. There will be several volunteer opportunities to come, which I will be sure to keep you all informed about.
  • Other opportunities: Starting in 2010, Student Members will have leadership opportunities to serve on the Member Network under the new NIRSA governance structure. Read more about available positions here.
