2009-2010 NIRSA Mentor Program
" . . .The mentoring process offers people the opportunity to turn their potential into reality, their dreams into destiny. Mentors impact eternity because there is no telling where their influence will stop." — John C. Maxwell
Now is your chance to get involved with the NIRSA Mentor Program in order to learn what it takes to be successful within and outside of Campus Recreation. We have mentors close by, but why not converse with someone outside of your inner circle, someone with different experiences and a different perspective? Many of us employed in Campus Recreation end up taking graduate assistantships or jobs far away from where we went to college. It's imperative that we know what's going on beyond our own campuses. Here's how the program works:
- Apply online or at a regional workshop, conference, or Lead On, or contact your Regional Student Representative for more information.
- You will be paired with a professional in your region and be notified of this pairing as soon as possible.
- The Student Leadership Team will provide the student participants with discussion topics each month. The topics will be emailed to participants and posted on the NIRSA Student website. It is your responsibility to contact your professional mentor.
- Topics will focus on issues in Campus Recreation and professional development.
- Talk as little or as much as you would like about the proposed topic. Or feel free to digress in order to learn even more about achieving your goals.
Please notify Student Members and nonmembers of this opportunity to prepare for their professional futures. Identify professionals you know who could offer a lot to students in your region. Take this opportunity to gain the knowledge and tools you need to be successful.
