2008-2009 Goals and Objectives of the Student Leadership Team
GOAL 1: Students will value their NIRSA membership investment.
Objective 1: Continue the growth and success of the professional/student mentoring/mentee program in order to provide students with collegiate recreation-focused learning opportunities and to broaden student networking.

1.1. Encourage assistance from professionals and state student representatives to connect students with professionals.

1.2. Promote the program through conferences, electronic resources and direct contact.

1.3. Support formal and informal interaction between diverse individuals in order to create bonds.
Learning Outcome 1: Students and professionals will be able to name other members through active networking.
Objective 2: Increase professionalism among students and provide them with resources necessary for their development and growth as a professional.

1.1. Promote active participation in State, Regional, Lead On, and Annual Conferences.

1.2. Support and maintain the Responsibility Initiative delivered at conferences in 2007-08.

1.3. Work with Campus Recreation professionals to define and vocalize expectations for staff and student conduct at conferences and workshops.
Learning Outcome 1: The Student Leadership Team will be able to compare numbers of applicants and participation in State, regional, Lead On, and Annual Conferences.
GOAL 2: Promote sustainability within the organization.

1.1 Enhance communication between the SLT and student members using methods such as electronic newsletters, social media and the NIRSA website.

1.2 Decrease the amount of hard copy handouts while increasing the use of online submittal forms for nominations, proposals and volunteering.
Learning Outcome 1: Students will be able to access desired resources while being environmentally conscious.
Learning Outcome 2: Students will be able to articulate NIRSA’s support of sustainability as a crucial component of the association’s success.
