Student Elections & Nominations

National Student Representative

The National Student Representative shall be elected by the student membership to serve on the Board of Directors for a period of one year, beginning with the New Board Meeting after the Summer Board Meeting at the NIRSA National Center and ending at the conclusion of the Summer Board Meeting the following year.

Regional Student Representative

The Regional Student Representatives are elected by their regional student membership to serve for a period of one year, beginning with the new officer training meeting that takes place during the annual conference, and ending at the annual conference the following year.

State Student Representative

The State Student Representative is appointed by the Regional Student Representative or elected by the state student membership to serve the students of his or her state for a period of one year. The State Student Representative will act in consultation with the National Student Representative, Regional Student Representative, Regional Vice-President, and State Director.

NIRSA State Student Representative - Role & Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Regional Student Representative with planning the Student Lead-On in their region.
  • Assisting the Student Leadership Team in running the student information table at the national NIRSA Annual Conference.
  • Communicating with students within their state to find out current issues, news and events.
  • Communicating with Campus Contacts within their state to share information from the Regional Student Representative.
  • Communicating with Regional Student Representative; submitting potential articles for the Regional Student Newsletter.
  • Helping spread the word of NIRSA to other students and assisting with the recruitment of new NIRSA members.
  • Representing the Regional Student Representative at the State Workshop if the RSR is unable to attend.
