Team Eligibility Guidelines

As of August 23, 2007

A College or University may enter only one men's team in either MDI, MDI-AA or MDII, and may enter a second team ONLY in MDIII. A College or University may enter only one women's team in WDI, and may enter a second team in WDII. No women are allowed to compete on a men’s team, and no men are allowed to compete on a women’s team. A men's/women's collegiate team wishing to enter these championships must include their current season schedule of competition and results and must be actively participating in one of the following categories, as a recognized representative sport club team from their respective college/university:

A NIRSA Recognized Collegiate Club League:
There are a number of active and structured leagues from across the country, which schedule on a weekly or biweekly basis, competition between two and four-year colleges and universities. Participation in these types of leagues qualifies a team to apply for entry into the 2008 Collegiate Championships. Recognized leagues are posted on the NIRSA Website. If there is a question of a league's validity, please contact Director of Competition Gary Colberg at 530-400-5698.

Independent Teams:
Teams who cannot participate in a NIRSA Recognized Collegiate Club league must show evidence of "active participation" as follows:
"Active participation" for men’s teams must involve a minimum of three scheduled dates of play after January 1st of the current NIRSA season that include competition against at least four or more teams from NIRSA recognized conferences on each of those dates.

"Active participation" for women’s teams must involve a minimum of two scheduled dates of play after January 1st of the current NIRSA season, involving four or more similar competitive units (teams), with at least two matches being against two different collegiate club teams (not including B teams).

It is up to independent teams to make sure their tournament scores are reported by the tournament director within 10 days of competition to the NIRSA website. If the tournament director fails to do so, it is the responsibility of the team to report their own scores.
