NIRSA/NCCS Volleyball Championships

Last April, during a meeting at the 2010 NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Expo in Anaheim, California, several members of the NIRSA Services Corporation (NSC) Board of Directors discussed the future of the NIRSA NCCS Volleyball Championships with NIRSA members. Consensus from that meeting prompted the NSC Board to initiate a conversation with the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) in an attempt to determine if the NCVF had any interest in cosponsoring with NIRSA a single collegiate club volleyball championship event.  

In response to NIRSA inquiries, we have now confirmed that the NCVF has no interest in pursuing a relationship with NIRSA in co-hosting or jointly sponsoring a club volleyball championship in 2011. As a result, the NSC Board has determined it is not in the best interest of NIRSA members, nor is it consistent with the NSC Mission, to host the NIRSA/NCCS National Volleyball Championships next spring. 

NIRSA has enjoyed a long term relationship with the collegiate club volleyball community. We look forward to finding new ways to serve them. Many of our NIRSA members have responsibility for their school's club volleyball teams and will continue to have a stake in the success of collegiate club volleyball. In the interim, NIRSA wishes the NCVF well with their 2011 tournament.
