2012 Tennis On Campus Championship
April 12-14, 2012 • Cary Tennis Park - Cary, North Carolina
The United States Tennis Association, National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association, Intercollegiate Tennis Association and World Team Tennis are pleased to announce the 13th annual USTA Tennis On Campus National Championship.
Dates:
April 11 - 5-7 pm Team Registration - MANDATORY Coaches/Team Rep Meeting (7 PM)
April 12 - Team Play - First Matches at 8am, plan accordingly.
April 13 - Team Play
April 14 - Team Play - all teams will have matches on Saturday, Music and Food, Final Match/Awards Ceremony
Entry Fee: $275
Roster Deadline: March 8, 2012
Entry fee, play history and team roster will be the only items needed for the initial sign-up (pre-registration). Teams will be able to change roster up until March 8, 2012. After this date roster will be frozen and changes can only be made with approval from tournament co-director (Valerie McCutchan). Enrollment verification forms will be sent via email to team reps on March 13. This form will need all participants’ signatures, and must also be signed by sport club director and the university registrar.
Teams must qualify at their USTA TOC Sectional Championship or received a bid from another TOC tournament. For more information, contact Valerie McCutchan
Qualifying: Each USTA TOC Sectional Championship has a set number of bids, please review for dates of your TOC section event. Only one team per school will be allowed in the Championship.
Tournament Format: WORLD TEAMTENNIS format. Teams will play "Round Robin" or "Pool Play" and then advance into bracket play. Teams are guaranteed six matches. ALL TEAMS WILL HAVE MATCHES ON SATURDAY.
Matches: A match consists of five no-ad sets and includes men;s singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles and one mixed doubles.
Game scoring: Each no-ad set is won by the first team to reach six games. A nine-point tiebreaker will be played at five games all in any set.
RULES from 2012
- All rostered players must have played in two events representing their team/school in the same academic year and prior to the USTA Campus Championship. An event is considered a dual match, a tournament, or a USTA Campus Championship-Sectional event.
- A player may play in only two sets per match, whether as a starter or a substitute (excluding the Supertiebreaker).
Teams: Minimum of 4 players (2 men, 2 women); maximum 10 players.
Eligibility Guidelines: There were changes made in the summer 2010. Please review the NCCS Eligibility Guidelines carefully. Ask team members the following questions to make sure each are eligible.
- Were you on a varsity "squad list" or NIRSA/NCCS roster prior to fall 2005? (This includes any year you may have red-shirted).
- If yes, they are INELIGIBLE
- Were you listed on a varsity "squad list" for over 3 weeks from Aug. 2011 to present time?
- If yes, they are INELIGIBLE
- Were you on a varsity team for 4 years? If yes, when was the last season you played?
- If the 2010-2011 season, they are INELIGIBLE
- Are you enrolled for at least ½ full-time enrollment status?
