Intramural Rules

Mud Volleyball

National Federation and Intramural Sports Volleyball rules are in effect with the following exceptions.

Participants are strongly advised to wear old clothes. The game is messy!

Players must wear shoes. The mud pits contain debris from previous construction. Knee pads and elbow pads are strongly recommended.

Do not drink the water. The hose at the mud pits is un-filtered.

The game is played with 6 players. The minimum number of players needed to avoid a forfeit is 4. In Co-Rec, teams must have 2 men and 2 women players to avoid a forfeit.

Rally scoring will be in effect for the entire tournament.

Matches will be the best two of three games to 15 points, with a 10 minute time limit in effect for all games.

A team does not have to be ahead by two points to win a game.

A current UNL photo I.D. is required of all players prior to each participation.

Individuals participate at their own risk.

In Co-Rec Mud Volleyball, if a team contacts the ball more than once during a volley, each gender does not have to contact the ball.
