Intramural Rules
Kickball
- Teams are composed of 10 total players (co-rec 5-on-5 ). Only 4 of each gender will play in the field, but everyone will kick
- The defensive team may be set up in any order the team wishes (guys and girls in either the in or outfield). There is no set rule for placing defending players.
- Kicking order must alternate gender.
- Game time is forfeit time! A team may start with 8 players of equal gender and must end with 8 players of equal gender.
- A half inning will consist of 3 outs. A game will consist of 5 innings or 1 1/2 hour time limit.
- The offensive team, team at kick, will supply the pitcher. There will be one pitch unless it is fouled off, then the kicker will receive another pitch. If fouled off again, the kicker will be out.
- A player will be ruled out if they kick two fouls, get hit by the ball from the shoulders or below before reaching the base, a pop fly is caught, or if the base runner is off of the base before the ball is put into play by the kicker. EXCEPTION: a player who is not in a regular standing/running position and is hit in the face/head will be ruled out! (ex.bending down to avoid getting hit or the runner falling down)
- Home/Visitor will be decided by a coin toss conducted by the program coordinator.
- There will be no official, however, the program coordinator for the game will decide on all arguments on the field at the time the problem arises.
- There will be no infield fly rule.
- With the exceptions listed on the rule sheet, ASA softball rules will govern this event.
More Kickball Rules
- "Line" kickball will be played. The kicker will kick the ball and then must run and cross a line on the far side of the playing area.
The kicker may be thrown out by being hit with the ball before s/he crosses the line. Once s/he crosses the line, they are considered "safe". The next player will then kick the ball. The players behind the line may either remain there or try to score. They may be thrown out in the same way that a kicker can. Once they cross home plate, they will be considered "safe" and their run will be counted.
- Each team consists of 6 players.
- Games will be played to fifteen (15) points.
- The defense "pitches" the ball to the kicking team. The defense may also position themselves in any manner they wish in the field.
