State Goals and Objectives

  • To inform those involved with Campus Recreation in Nebraska of events and opportunities available through NIRSA.
  • To recruit and retain institutional and individual members in the state of Nebraska.
  • Work with the Region V Vice President to disseminate information and ensure the voice of Nebraska is heard.

State Director's Corner

My name is Zac Brost, and I am currently the Coordinator for Intramural Sports at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  2008-09 will be the second of my two-year term as state director, and I am excited to continue working with professionals and students of this state and region. 

Nebraska had a successful and productive year in 2007-08.  Some highlights include:

  • A summer golf outing, hosted by Creighton University
  • The Region V/Big XII & Friends NIRSA Conference, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln – 61 attendees from the state of Nebraska
  • New facility projects broke ground at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Creighton University
  • The University of Nebraska-Lincoln hosted Extramural Tournaments in flag football and basketball-5 state institutions were represented
  • A men’s team and a women’s team from the University of Nebraska-Omaha competed at the National Basketball Championships
  • A CoRec team from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln attended the National Flag Football Championships
  • A broomball team from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln competed in the National Broomball Championships, in Fargo, ND
  • The tennis Sport Club from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln won runner-up honors in their division at the USTA National Tennis Championships
  • 10 student officials from Nebraska were selected of officiate National Flag Football and Basketball Championships
