Mentor Program: Get connected with a NIRSA Professional Member in your area of interest.

2011-2012 NIRSA Mentor Program

" . . .The mentoring process offers people the opportunity to turn their potential into reality, their dreams into destiny. Mentors impact eternity because there is no telling where their influence will stop." - John C. Maxwell

Now is your chance to get involved with the NIRSA Mentor Program in order to learn what it takes to be successful within and outside of Campus Recreation. We have mentors close by, but why not converse with someone outside of your inner circle, someone with different experiences and a different perspective? Many of us employed in Campus Recreation end up taking graduate assistantships or jobs far away from where we went to college. It's imperative that we know what's going on beyond our own campuses.

The Student Leadership Team's objectives with this program are to:

  • Provide professional development opportunities with individuals from different institutions
  • Increase participants' confidence when interacting with people of different ages
  • Encourage participants to challenge each other to explore and achieve new goals

Mentors
Here's how the program works:
  1. Apply by completing this application form. Submit it to the current National Student Leader, Laura Thomasor to a member of the Student Leadership Team at a Regional Student Lead On, Workshop, or Conference. Feel free to contact a member of the Student Leadership Team for more information.
  2. Both parties will be notified once they are paired. The short biography included in your application will be sent to your mentor/mentee.
  3. The pair will receive a list of activities they can choose from.

Help get the word out! Please notify Student Members and nonmembers of this opportunity to prepare for their professional futures. Identify professionals you know who could offer a lot to students in your region. Take this opportunity to gain the knowledge and tools you need to be successful.
