Elections
Member Network Information
The Member Network expands and enhances the strong regional network of NIRSA and creates numerous opportunities for member involvement and leadership development. The Member Network will focus on outreach, engagement, advocacy, local constituent communication, nurturing and developing Members regionally, networking, grassroots growth of the field, overseeing the State/Provincial Directors and Student Leaders, and facilitating regional education opportunities.
Composition of the Member Network
The Member Network is composed of the following 15 members:
- Six (6) Regional Representatives, one from each region (staggered two-year terms)
- Six (6) Student Regional Leaders, one from each region (one-year terms)
- National Student Leader (one-year term)
- Past Presidents' Representative (one-year term)
- Member of the NIRSA Board of Directors (annual appointment)
Transition to establishment of the Member Network
In order to prevent a situation where all six Regional Representative terms would expire in the same year, an every-other-year staggered term system was recommended by the Governance Transition Team. and adopted for the Member Network.
In 2012, Regions II, IV, and VI will elect a Regional Representative from their region for a two-year term. (Current Regional Representatives in Regions I, III, and V are serving a 2011-2013 term.)

Nomination, Application and Election Process
Applications and supporting materials for all open Member Network positions were due October 24, 2011. Slated candidates will be announced in early December. Electronic elections will occur January 4-18, 2012, with results announced shortly thereafter.
Regions I, III, V - Regional Representatives
Regional Representatives for Regions I, III, and V were elected to a two-year term in 2011. These positions will not be open again until 2013.
Regions II, IV, VI - Regional Representatives
The Regional Representative positions for Regions II, IV, and VI are open for the 2012 elections. Regional Nominations & Appointments Committees will recruit nominees, review applications and supporting materials, and determine the slate of candidates for each region. The final slate of candidates will be certified by the national Nominations & Appointments Committee.

National Student Leader
NIRSA Student Members will elect their 2012-2013 National Student Leader in 2012 electronic elections. The recruitment and slating process for this position is conducted by a subcommittee of the national Nominations & Appointments Committee, which includes the current and previous year's National Student Leader. The final slate of candidates will be certified by the national Nominations & Appointments Committee.

Regional Student Leaders
NIRSA Student Members in each region will elect their 2012-2013 Regional Student Leaders in 2012 electronic elections. The recruitment and slating process for this position is conducted by regional committees headed by current Regional Student Leaders.
