The Registry of Collegiate Recreational Sports Professionals
Initial Application Criteria
Updated September 1, 2011 by the NIRSA Professional Registry Commission (PRC). The PRC has instituted several important changes to the application criteria that are captured below. More details about the recently adopted changes are available in the September 2011 issue of the NIRSA KNOW (read more hear).
There are three methods of entry into the Registry for initial application, based on college education and related experience.

I have no academic degree or no degrees in a field related* to recreational sports.
I have a bachelor's degree in a field related* to recreational sports.
I have a master's degree (or above) in a field related* to recreational sports.
Category A: Applicants with a master's degree in a related field
Required experience: Master's degree in a field related to recreational sports and no less than two (2) years of full-time experience* working in any recreational sport administration setting - campus, community, commercial, corporate, military, correctional, outdoor OR one (1) year of full-time experience and CRSS. A statement of how this degree is relevant to the applicant’s experiences in the field of collegiate recreational sports
OR: Master’s degree in a non-related field AND 10 or more years of full-time experience* working in any recreational sport administration setting - campus, community, commercial, corporate, military, correctional, outdoor.
Category B: Applicants with a bachelor's degree in a related field
Required experience: Bachelor's degree in a field related to recreational sports and no less than three (3) years of full-time experience* working in any recreational sport administration setting - campus, community, commercial, corporate, military, correctional, outdoor OR two (2) years of full-time experience and CRSS. A statement of how this degree is relevant to the applicant’s experiences in the field of collegiate recreational sports
AND: 2.0 CEU’s with representation in all 8 of the core knowledge areas.
Category C: Bachelor's degree in a non-related field or Applicants with now academic degree
Required experience: No less than four (4) years of full-time experience* working in any recreational sport administration setting - campus, community, commercial, corporate, military, correctional, outdoor.
AND: 4.0 CEU's with representation in all 8 of the core knowledge areas.
* Two years of Graduate Assistant experience in collegiate recreation is equivalent to one year of full-time professional experience.
*Related fields: Recreation Management/Leisure Studies, Sport Management/Administration, Physical Education/Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration
