ImageInternational Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)

The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. In obtaining this approval, NIRSA has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standards which are widely recognized as standards of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, NIRSA is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standards. NIRSA will award Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to participants who register for CEUs and successfully complete the IACET criteria.

  • Confidentiality Policy
    NIRSA will treat as confidential all matters involving IACET CEUs. Cumulative records of all IACET CEUs earned are to be available for a minimum of 7 years and are to be issued as an official permanent record upon request by the learner.
  • To receive CEU/CEC credit participants must:
    • Register for CEUs/CECs, attend, and participate in the entire session.
    • Have the session monitor/instructor sign the CEU/CEC participation form.
    • Complete and sign a session evaluation.
    • Send a copy of the signed CEU/CEC Participation Form to the NIRSA National Center for IACET CEUs, and/or send a copy to ACE for CECs. Contact and mailing information is included on the CEU/CEC participation form.
    • Learning objectives are given in appropriate session descriptions and included in the registration materials.

ImageAmerican College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

For those who are ACSM certified, continuing education credits from NIRSA may be applied towards the ACSM continuing certification process.

Formal documentation of these credits will be required following notification from the ACSM certification department.

Policy on Retention and Releasing Permanent Records

  • Retention: NIRSA will retain records for a maximum of 7 years for learners who successfully complete courses, programs and activities.
  • Record Release: The learner may request his/her records via (1) email from personal account, (2) fax with photocopy of license and signature, or (3) mail with photocopy of license and signature. Records will be mailed directly to the learner or others authorized no later than four weeks after receipt of request at the NIRSA National Center.
