NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Exposition

T-shirt & Apparel Competition, Raffle & Sale

Back by popular demand! Join the fun and promote your institution’s recreation department and programs by entering items that showcase your graphic design and event promotion savvy. Entries will be judged on originality, content, graphic design and overall visual appeal.

The design contest is a philanthropic endeavor that provides friendly competition between NIRSA institutions and serves as an exchange of creative promotion ideas. Ribbons are awarded for first, second, and third places as well as an Honorable Mention in each category. All entries are displayed and sold at the Conference. All proceeds are donated to the NIRSA Foundation.

Eligibility

• T-shirts and other items must represent events that occurred between April 2007 and March 2008.
• T-shirts may be either short or long sleeved. Tank tops and sleeveless shirts are considered short sleeved.
• Designs may be one or more colors.
• The number of entries is unlimited.
• If you wish an item to be considered for more than one category, you must enter each category separately and provide the correct number of samples. Two shirts must be submitted for each entry so that one may be sewn into the 2008 T-shirt Quilt if selected as a winner. Non-T-shirt entries will only need one item for entry.

Contest categories

T-shirts will be judged in each of the following categories:

• Commercial Sponsorship*
• Fitness & Leisure
• Humorous
• Intramurals
• One-Color Screen
• Outdoor
• Special Events
• Sport Clubs
• Staff (lifeguard, officials, etc.)

Additionally, a Best of Show will be awarded amongst the first place winners from each of the t-shirt categories.

*Note: Any T-shirt with commercial markings or that has been subsidized by a commercial organization MUST be entered in the Commercial Sponsorship category.

There is a separate judging category for non-T-shirt items (jackets, sweatshirts, cups, hats, mouse pads, etc.), as well as a Donation Only category, which will not be judged.

Entry process

Bring your completed entry forms with you for a quick check-in. Entries will be accepted at the Foundation Table in the Registration area during these times:

Tuesday, April 1.....................6:00pm–8:00pm

Wednesday, April 2...............8:00am–3:00pm

Thursday, April 3....................8:30am–1:30pm

T-Shirt & Apparel Competition Winners

The T-Shirt & Apparel Competition winners will be announced and given ribbons at the NIRSA Booth in the Recreational Sports Exposition, Thursday, April 3 at 4:00pm. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, April 3 at 1:30pm.

T-Shirt Competition Sale

T-shirt submittals will be available for purchase at the Foundation Store in the NIRSA Booth, Expo Hall Thursday April 3, 3:30pm – 7:00pm and Friday, April 4 10:00am - 1:30pm. Winning entries of the T-shirt and Apparel Competition will be sold beginning Thursday, April 3, at 4:00pm.

NIRSA Foundation T-Shirt Quilt Raffle

This year’s one-of-a-kind quilt will be raffled during the Foundation report at the Annual Business Meeting on Saturday, April 5. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the conference up until the Annual Business Meeting. Tickets can be purchased at the NIRSA Foundation Table, from Foundation Board members and 2007 NIRSA Foundation student scholarship winners. The quilt, designed by Roy Easley, is a display of winning T-shirts from the 2007 T-shirt Competition.
