NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Exposition
Presenter Resources
Membership & Registration Requirements
- All presenters must be current members of NIRSA through the end of the conference unless an exemption has been requested and is granted (as explained within the presentation proposal form). (Click here for the membership and exemption policy)
- All presenters must pre-register for the conference.
- We encourage the inclusion of colleagues to enhance presentations. Due to the uncertain economic forecast, attendees will appreciate receiving particularly engaging presentations with valuable materials for their registration fee. Please consider inviting colleagues to be co-presenters.
Lead Presenter Requirements
It is the lead presenter's responsibility to inform any co-presenters of any pertinent information such as the schedule, membership and registration requirements. The lead presenter is the NNC's contact person; all correspondence related to their education session will be routed through them.
PowerPoint Presentation
Click here to download a PowerPoint template for your presentation. This template includes approved NIRSA logos and layout. All PowerPoint slides for any presentation must contain the official NIRSA logo.
Disclosure
At the start of the session, a statement about a presenter's proprietary interest in a product, instrument, device, service, or in any material discussed during the session, must be disclosed to the participants. Additionally, NIRSA discourages any sales pitches during educational sessions.
Handouts
When providing handouts for your session, please gauge your audience's interest in your material and bring enough for at least 100 people.
Affirmative Action
All people are individuals with very different and unique characteristics. Therefore, when referring to the individual or specific group of individuals, remember that people are distinctive, diverse, and dignified.
- Be certain that programs referred to as models in your presentation are consistent with established affirmative action guidelines.
- Do not use degrading statements or innuendoes. Do not use sexist or ethnic jokes.
- When using "he" or "she" exclusively for reasons of simplicity, clarify this intention beforehand. Preferably, avoid gender-specific examples. Avoid promoting programs or job qualifications as suitable only for males or females.
- Do not promote ideas or concepts that violate Title VII, Title IX, section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Public Law 94-142.
- Follow the adage: When in doubt, leave it out.
Photographs/Video
NIRSA will use photographs and video taken during the Conference to promote the Association and future events. By presenting an educational session you provide NIRSA with the unrestricted right to use photographs and videos at its discretion for the purpose outlined above.
CEU Responsibilities
- Attendees must submit their Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Participation Form to the lead presenter or session monitor to be signed in order to receive CEU's.
- As an authorized provider of CEUs by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), it is required that stated learning objectives must be noted with a number rather than a generic bullet in any handout or PowerPoint presentation, and all learning objectives must be stated at the beginning of each session presentation.
- NIRSA will provide a session evaluation form which addresses understanding of the learning objectives as well as the effectiveness of the presentation, the presenter's knowledge, usefulness of the material and opportunity for questions.
