NIRSA's National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day: February 22
Thank you for providing explanations of your NRS&FD activities and the pictures that documented them. Following is a sampling of what happened on a variety of campuses across the country in 2010!
Mount St. Mary's University:
Mount St. Mary's University held a Sprint Biathlon on February 22. Monday, February 22, encouraging students, faculty and staff to compete in the ¼ mile swim and 2 mile run.
Boston University:
Boston University held a wellness fair in which representatives from the Student Health Center, Campus Food Service, EMS and The Fitness and Recreation Center offered information on wellness resources, eating healthy on campus, free blood pressure screenings and information on campus recreation activities. Give-a-ways included Clif Bars, tote bags, caribiner clips, pedometers and water bottles.
Cleveland State University:
Cleveland State University celebrated National Recreational Sports and Fitness Day with free access to their Recreation Center and free Group Fitness Classes all day long. They also held their 1st Annual 120 Minute Spin-A-Thon and collected over $150 and 66 pounds of canned goods for the Cleveland Food Bank. Many people turned out to take advantage of the free classes, which included Spinning, Yoga, Hip Hop, Cardio Sculpt, Aqua Aerobics, and more!
James Madison University:
JMU had a great celebration & hope to continue to celebrate NIRSA National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day in the future. An information table, smoothie samples and the Wellness Passport Scavenger Hunt were available throughout the day along with the following scheduled activities:
