Nick assists in the long-range and near-term planning and operations of education-related activities of the Association, including the NIRSA Annual Conference, symposia, institutes, schools, webinars, screen casting, and other similar electronic-based activities. Nick also doubles as the NIRSA site Building Manager. Before returning to the Education Department, he was the Assistant Director of National Sport Programs from 2006 - 2010.
As a huge advocate of team sports, Nick has coached football, basketball, and baseball teams from all ages and genders since 1995. Currently, he is the WR/DB coach for the Corvallis High School varsity football team who won the 5A State Championship in 2006. Nick continues to be involved in the Corvallis community volunteering at the Boy's and Girl's Club. His work with the United Way earned him the 1997 John Stotsenberg Award, and a year later was nominated for Junior First Citizen in Corvallis. Recently, he was awarded the Robert L. Lindsay Meritorious Service Award by USA Volleyball.
Nick was a three-sport athlete at Corvallis High School where he played in three consecutive state championship games in basketball, baseball and football. In football, Nick tied a school record with 12 interceptions in a season and was awarded the Valley League Defensive Player of the Year.
As an OSU graduate of the class of ’93, Nick enjoys Beaver football, playing softball, and swinging a golf club or chillin’ pool side with friends and family at Black Butte Ranch. Nick has four children, Janie 15 and Cal, 13, and twin boys Brody & Gavin who were born 9/7/07.
