  • National Collegiate Golf Championship Local Qualifiers (coming soon)

Collegiate Golf Alliance (CGA), the premier online registration and golf event management company, is accepting applications to host a local qualifying event for the 2009 NCGC program until May 26, 2009. Host universities receive a NCGC prize package valued at over $600/school and $60/player.  Universities that wish to host an event must apply by this date, although specific event details such as date and golf course are not required on the application.

Winning teams from Local Qualifiers advance to the 8th Annual National Collegiate Golf Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada November 6-9, 2009. A two-person scramble event, the NCGC will allow recreational golfers to compete for their university to see who will be the 2009 champion. The Championship has three divisions: Student, Faculty/Staff and Alumni/Community.

Fifty to eighty local qualifying tournaments will be held across the United States in the late spring, summer and fall. Local qualifying host schools receive a prize package valued at over $500 and over $50 per player.

"We are very excited to be able to expand the NCGC program to include the PGAU schools, which will allow more schools the opportunity to participate and compete," said CGA President and CEO Mike Munson. "The excitement and competitive spirit will be at an all-time high in 2009. With the National Championship now being covered by Fox Sports West, and part of the PGAU program, our reach and exposure should be outstanding."

Over the past seven years, the NCGC programs have benefited the NIRSA Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for students through professional development, research, scholarships, and educational resources.

"As a competitive golfer in high school, I thought my time to compete in high-level golf tournaments was over when I enrolled at Marquette University," said participant John Borneman. "But upon arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada, to play in the National Collegiate Golf Championship, I realized that absolutely was not true. From the beginning, my partner and I were treated like real competitors."

CGA has appointed six regional managers to assist in the programming of campus golf events and help coordinate the National Tournament.
